OCTOBER 13
We left CT, Sunday, Oct. 12 at 5:45 AM and arrived in
Huntington, WV at 6:00 PM, a total of about 700 miles and
traveling through 6 states: CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD and WV. Monday
we left Huntington at 6:45 and had the length of KY for our travel.
We reached Green Turtle Bay at noon central time, a total of 400
miles.
There are a few loopers still here. We visited with Ping, loopers we
met and traveled with back on L. Michigan. After that we headed
to the IGA for some supplies, fed and walked Lily, then drove to
Patti's for dinner, and began to unpack and get ready to resume our
trip Tuesday after we return our rental car at 8:00 AM.
OCTOBER 14
Jim left at 7:00 AM to return the car rental and stop at the store to pick up distilled water. Our
batteries lost water and were not charged. After he returned, he filled the batteries, and we got
underway from Green Turtle at 1000. We caught up with Ping, then further along met up with "The
Grape Escape" from CA, a boat we met in Drummond Island and again in St. Ignace. We passed them
since they were going to anchor out, and we had 73 miles to cover. With the days getting dark
earlier, we wanted to make sure we got to Pebble Isle Marina in New Johnsonville, TN by 1700
which we did! We are docked on the long transient dock, and there are several looper boats here:
Blue Angel, Gulf Cart, Good News, Foreign Exchange and one other on another dock. We had dinner
at the restaurant here (their fried catfish and hush puppies are delicious!) and then relaxed. We plan
on leaving here by 0900, heading to Clifton, TN about 65 miles south.

OCTOBER 15
The full moon during the night was absolutely gorgeous! We got underway from Pebble Isle at 9:45, a
little later than we expected, but it was worth it since we had a chance to have some of their free
homemade cinnamon buns. The crust was light like a croissant with cinnamon on top and soft white cream
frosting. The day was sunny with a light breeze, yet the temperature was in the low 80's. It was much
more pleasant than the day was yesterday when there was NO breeze at all and was pretty hot. A few
of the loopers who also left anchored about 10 miles north of Clifton Marina, Clifton, TN where we are
staying for the night. This is a quaint little marina and we are squished in front of the dock office
store and fuel dock. There is no cell phone service here, but that's ok. It's quiet and friendly and we
have a chance to do some laundry and RELAX after all the car and boat driving the past few days.

OCTOBER 16 Clifton Marina
We decided to stay put another day here. Although it's not raining YET, our Sirius weather tell us
we have a pretty good chance of getting into a serious thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong
winds. We do not have cell phone service here, so until tomorrow, if you need to call us, you can
reach the marina office until 8:00 PM at: 931-676-5225. It's a good day to wash all the bugs off
the baot from GTB and use the courtesy car to drive to town. Next stops are Aqua Yacht Harbor in
Iuka, MS, then Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogerville, AL by Oct. 17 to settle in for the AGLCA
Rendezvous from Oct. 20-23.
*
This map tells you why we are staying here again The storm by the red L would be by the red star * which is where we would be at the Pickwick Lock about 45 miles from where we are. There are no other marinas south, and we can't anchor because of our battery problem. It's good that we have an extra "bad weather" day tucked into our schedule.
