June 29 - Westbrook to Port Washington
page 2
We were awakened at 4:45 AM by a sqawking bird that had
perched itself on our neighbor's boat for 45 minutes. After
5:30. The weather forecast was cloudy with 10-15 knots winds
from the north, waves about 1 foot. It was a "go" for us. We
got underway at 8:00 with Captain Jim, and crew: Barbara,
Lily, and our friends Barbara and George who are riding up to
Catskill with us.

The seas were about 1 foot, until we reached New Haven where
the waves were 2+ on our starboard beam. We rolled some,
going about 8 knots, until we reached Stamford, where the seas
became almost flat.

Golden Lily chugged along peacefully. Lily enjoyed her ride. Her
favorite spot was against the glass pilot house door to
"sightsee", or under the helm seat to sleep.

We reached Port Washington at 2:00 PM. I walked Lily which is
quite a hike since we are at a dock way, way out by the fuel
dock. It's over a 10 minute walk to the street where there is a
grassy area.

We ate dinner at a restaurant next to the marina, came back
to the boat for some pie, and watched a gorgeous, orange,
yellow, and red sunset.

We will be up early tomorrow to get an early start to Marlboro,
NY which is about a 7 hour ride. We would like to leave here by
7:00 AM.

"Give me a great big "Lily" hug!
We passed an osprey nest as we left our marina.
