Laundry got done, and Lily was relaxing and sleeping in her "garage" under
the helm chair, Jim set up waypoints for Oneida Lake. The boat traffic
on the river has picked up. This is a no wake zone, and although there is
a sheriff boat going back and forth, some boats get by going faster than
they should. It's quite windy again today, so holding off doing locks for
another day may be good. We called on the radio to Coast Guard
Auxiliary Flotilla 26. They responded right away, and at the same time
one of their member's boat was heading in front of us for fuel. Later,
another member stopped by to visit with us. It's great traveling by boat
and being able to connect with other auxiliary members. Jim walked over
to the restaurant where he thought he left his glasses, and they were
found!
We had dinner at "The Spaghetti Factory", very inexpensive with lots of
food...the best minestrone soup, large salad, and large bowl of spaghetti
with sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, and peppers. We both left with
"doggie" bags for tomorrow's lunch. The hike back to the boat was about
1 1/2 miles; a good way to work off a big meal! We are hoping for good
weather to cross Oneida Lake Sunday, heading to Brewerton, 20 miles
from Sylvan Beach, to fuel up and pump out. Oswego is 40 more miles.
We will try to make Oswego, but may decide to tie up at a wall. It
depends on the weather.
